Jack-a-lope Baby Stuffie

I've been a little bit swap crazy on Craftster lately. The good thing about that tho' is that it has completely gotten me out of the creative slump that I was suffering from.

The mailman in charge of my last swap package thought it would be good to *walk* the package over (Waiting three weeks for someone to receive is torture) but the lil' guy I made arrived safely in his new home so now I can share it with you!

This was the first stuffie I've ever made. I think that ear is my favorite thing. It happened by accident. I was holding onto his ear while I stitched his face and it was bent when I let it go. I just couldn't bring myself to straighten it back out.

Needs Moar Dinosaurs!

The sewing projects are piling up (I seriously have a stack that towers over my head on the shelf next to me) but there's just something completely satisfying about drawing dinosaur pictures.

Dinosaurs <3 Sushi. I mean...how could they not?! It's sushi!

I thought I would like the center layout. Now I'm wishing that I had a larger sketchbook so that I could have more options. This might call for a trip downtown to Sam Flax.

Still in the weeds..

I have finished my first embroidery. Up until this point I've been a strictly cross stitch girl. The piece I finished was for a swap I'm in so as soon as she receives I'll post pics here.

I can certainly see some bumps in it, but I'm glad I jumped into this new craft. ..I've already got two more projects planned. I think I need some extra arms.

I don't know how it happens. I really don't. The best theory that I have at the moment is that my house (where so ever it may be) is filled with creative gremlins. They hold onto project ideas or that magical voodoo that has someone in the universe request something from me and then they release it all at once.

I went from an almost self-imposed creative drought to a storm.

It certainly isn't anything that I *don't* want to do. It is just that May seems full to bursting and the 15th isn't even quite yet upon us.

The end of one hoop (literally) is in sight. I wanted to have it done last night. I also wanted to curl up and watch tv with my dearest who I've barely seen all week.
Small price to pay.

Trying again tomorrow sounds like a good idea..

I got myself into a little bit of sewing trouble today. I have the habit of looking at a pattern (for maybe a whole six seconds) and going "Totally easy."

Nine times out of ten I've really stretched my limits and made some fabulous things.

Today it was time #10.

I will take blame for the first use of the seam ripper. I got ahead of myself and went straight into cutting and sewing before thinking ahead to the next step.

Seam ripper: 1
Scrap bucket: growing
Allegory: 0

From there I don't know *exactly* what happened. There were angles and trees and more angles and trees that disappeared behind one line of fabric to reappear in front of another..

Seam ripper: 5
Scrap bucket: disappointingly full
Allegory: -1 ( The loss of a point determined by stabbing myself in the thumb with the seam ripper )

I threw in the ultimate white flag...

 I called Mom.

My Submission for the Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project

If you haven't heard about the Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project then go here.
I found out about it because I follow @thinkgeek.
When I saw yesterday that submissions were still open I knew that I wanted to work on something.

It's been about a year since I've drawn anything. And I didn't draw that frequently to begin with. But I didn't worry about what it was going to look like or whether or not you could see the break in that ink line (top of his head...seriously..it's there). Because the important thing was just adding one more piece of dinosaurness to the wall.

I worked on it for a few hours last night. And mailed it off this morning.
Here's the scan I took of it before I packed it up:
When I got home...I immediately started sketching one for myself. Somewhere in the past couple of years I forgot how much I love dinosaurs. I'm so glad to have had this reminder.

It starts with one stitch

I really meant to have the first post on the 1st because I just really liked the way that sounded...Best laid plans and all that jazz.

Just as I have finally staked out my own little corner of the apartment for crafts, I wanted to also create a not-so-physcial corner for the things I'm working on.

It's taken me years to learn to just do the things that make you happy. I have no idea where all of this is going but I think the ride is going to be the best part.

Not to mention that having a blog dedicated to all the things I decide I want to make at 3am might actually keep me on task for some of them.

I'm off to make a dinosaur picture for Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project. How much you wanna bet I end up making a second one for my own wall?
